Creating Spring
The warmth of these past few days has me soooo ready for Spring. And with Mardi Gras approaching I'm throwing open windows and letting the fresh air in.
BRANCHING OUT
These unseasonably warm temps give you the opportunity to trim up shrubs and trees before they leaf out.
I find it so much easier to rein in the wild branches without all the extra leafiness clouding the matter. All you need are a good pair of pruners and a clear sense of the shape you want your tree or shrub to ultimately have.
And what to do with those branches? Why, bring them inside and try your hand at forcing them, of course. Here's a little how-to on this early Spring decorating staple: Forcing Branches 101.
CELEBRATING SPRING
With Lent approaching, Easter, Passover, and Spring celebrations aren't far behind. It's time for bunnies, lambs, and, of course, eggs. My favorites are speckled robin's eggs.
Getting the color right is a challenge, and that perfect speckling is a skill all it's own. Just in time, Deanna of Vintage Veneers Decor is offering a workshop of how to create exactly that - in your favorite spring colors, and all the techniques you'll need to make a nest-ful of delightful eggs.
She'll also teach how to make them into Spring name-card holders. You'll come away with a parcel of eggs, nests, and the skills you need to create as many as you want.
Two times are available. Space is limited, so sign up early to get claim your spot.
Enjoy this warming weather and the build-up to Spring it represents!
