ABOUT THE EXPERTS
Virginia Crum - Owner of Chartreuse & co
Virginia’s career started in marketing and graphic design as the Marketing Director of Lilypons Water Gardens from 1989-1996. After winning several awards, producing events, appearing on well-known networks (MTV, ABC), and publications such as Country Living, Country Home, and Washington Post, Virginia started a new endeavor as the founder and owner of St. Michael’s Press and St. Francis de Sales Press. After that, Chartreuse & co was born!
Virginia often saw the beauty in neglected pieces and transformed them into irresistible items using paint, upholstery, and hardware. She loved displaying these pieces along with vintage and new accessories, to create an inviting and chic ambiance. And thus, Chartreuse & co came to be what it is today as Virginia transformed her historic family derelict farm buildings into a vintage decor mecca.
These grounds would host monthly events, including Market days filled with treasures, appear on HGTV, and be featured in articles in the Washingtonian, The Washington Post, New York Magazine, Southern Living, Maryland Live, and the Frederick News Post.
Join Virginia Friday & Saturday at 11 am for her workshop on how to find just the right piece — what to look for in a seemingly rough item, choosing the right treatment (to paint or not to paint, fresh hardware, etc), and pro tips on getting it all to turn out right. And she'll be around all three days to answer any DIY or decorating questions you may have!
Rebecca Kidder - Owner of Federal & Black
"I didn’t begin, a furniture painter," says Rebecca Kidder of Federal & Black. "When I first started Federal & Black I’d go to every estate sale & auction I could find to stretch my dollar & find great deals. Sometimes I’d luck into finding a stunner sideboard or pair of pembroke side tables in pristine condition but most of the time, I’d find pieces that needed a little TLC. That’s where Fusion comes in." Join Rebecca Friday & Saturday at 12 pm for Fusion Mineral Paint 101! Learn all about Rebecca's favorite paint and how she uses it to transform her finds.
Sandy Morris - Owner of Heels & Hardware
Sandy has been in business for 12 years! The business name Heels and Hardware (now H and H Studios) came from her love of using power tools and letting the world know you can do both!
She started off teaching women how to use power tools and painting furniture in her garage. Then she staged a model apartment for a friend and that took off, but her love for power tools and taking something that would be trashed and making it a treasure is what she enjoys the most. She has since taken a warehouse space and created a place where women can come and create and learn a new skill painting. Sandy has been using Annie Sloan paint for over 10 years, and finds that the quality and ease- of use make it so less intimidating for newcomers and experienced crafters alike. Sandy will be demoing her favorite Annie Sloan paints on Saturday, June 17 at 2 pm! You can also check out her classes in Kensington Maryland, email info@hhstudiosdmv.com for more details.
Liz Revell, Owner of The Linen Tiger
Liz is a professional photographer who also loves repurposing furniture, creating one-of-a-kind handmade pillows, light upholstery, and a pro at adding furniture transfers to old pieces and making them new again! Liz will be demoing her furniture transfers on Sunday, June 18 at 12 pm! You can take a look at some fun prints and styles she has available at Chartreuse here.
