I DREAM IN FLOWERS
A riotous, painterly celebration of art and the natural world, this exquisite scarf is all at once romantic, ethereal, and so, so cool. Inspired by the romance of European flower markets, we created this airy piece using a masterful oil painting from the early 1600’s by artist Jan Brueghel, and an ink drawing of bumblebees we found in a Victorian insect encyclopedia. Heighten your wardrobe with the look of a treasured vintage piece that will never go out of style.
EARTH & SKY
One of our favourite ways to pass the time on a warm, summer afternoon is just lie in the grass and look up at the clouds through the branches of the beautiful old trees that border our headquarters here at Market of Stars. Earth and sky was created out of a deep appreciation for rare afternoons like these — full of wise ancient trees, and wide open skies! Painted in the late 1800’s by british artist charles aston, the palette is a dreamy and meditative play of textures and colours from the natural world.
LAND OF PLENTY
Pastoral landscapes, a delightfully pretty palette, and touches of vintage charm — welcome to the land of plenty! We combined a tree-filled farm landscape from drenthe province in the netherlands by painter egbert van drielst with a cross-stitch sampler of a floral vine from the same era by an anonymous artist to create this beautiful scarf. Finally, we added the word “peace” to the border. So lovely, airy, and whimsical!
FRIENDSHIP, LOVE, & TRUTH
It takes a bold heart to live your truth. To keep reminding yourself that love is the answer, even on your hard days! We created this eclectic, super cool scarf from an 1880's archival print, and adapted the utterly charming wood-grain lettering to build the trim. The result is one of our favorite pieces in the collection: beautiful and completely unique, with a lot of romance, and a touch of rock and roll.
WILD BEAUTY
Majesty, luxury, and good luck! Peacocks — symbols of strength, confidence, luck, and royalty — have been celebrated for their glorious and colorful plumage throughout history. This remarkable piece features joyful, deliciously rich artwork from the 1600's by Dutch painter, Melchior d’Hondecoeter, and is trimmed with a print we created using a reconstructed French textile fragment from the same era.
