"In her role as goddess of beauty," states the Rosicrucian Museum of Egypt's website.  "[Hathor] was the patron of cosmetics. Wearing cosmetics was seen as a form of worship to Hathor, and offerings of mirrors or cosmetic palettes to her were common."
