Nefertiti, the Great Royal Wife of the heretical pharaoh, Akhenaten, is one of the most renowned figures of Ancient Egyptian history and is even believed by some to have become a pharaoh in her own right. Her name, meaning "the beautiful one has come" is on exquisite display in her famous bust, lovingly reproduced here (with the permission of the Berlin museum which now houses the treasure), in this beautiful pendant necklace.
Nefertiti held an unusually powerful role in ancient Egypt, as represented in the surviving depictions of her with her husband, where she is represented at nearly the same size as the pharaoh: a symbol of her status. Her famous bust was discovered at Akhet-Aton (modern day Tell el-Amarna) on December 6, 1912. This wonderful pendant was cast in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the discovery. Bring the power of one of the greatest women of history to your space.
